glub glub glub
there are so many reasons to say "no that's not realistic" in life. to turn down opportunities. to miss a really cool path you could have been on. that's how I feel about this painting. Instead of saying "vases don't look like that, goldfish can't live with flowers," I embraced a moment and created a whole new joyful concept. I hope that when you look at this painting, you remember to say YES to life. to embrace creativity, bold moments, play. have fun with life!
and ok fine this is another of my FAVORITE paintings. I love the simplicity, the flower combinations, and of course that goldfish staring right at us! Featured in this painting are peonies, safflower + chamomile. It is approximately 14"x17" and painted directly onto a wooden frame and board that has been attached to the frame. this varnished acrylic painting is ready to hang.
The goldfish is a nod to my mom, who used to keep a beta fish in a vase that had plants growing in it (I believe its called aquaponics) and I started wondering... "what if those were flowers instead?? and a goldfish?"
please note that the vibrant colors and also the black are surprisingly hard to photograph!! If you are seeing little white dots or things that don't look right--its just my photography light reflecting off of the black.
