dreaming of more
I think this woman-girl is dreaming of the future--of who she can and will become--the life she is meant to live and the path that only she can see. The butterfly symbolizes transitioning from a child who internalizes who their parents say they are--to determining who you are for yourself + being that person.
I painted this in 2024 when I was beginning to explore portraiture--before all the "wild faces" and bold colors... although she certainly dips her toe in color here.
This is an acrylic painting on sketchbook paper -9x12". These sketchbook paintings occasionally have extra marks on the page (front or back) that let you know they were painted by a real person in a sketchbook :)
please note I do my absolute best to make the photos match the real-life paintings, but it is a challenge with my vibrant color palette! Most of the time, paintings look much more vibrant in real life, but just be aware that there may be discrepancies between what you see on screen and the actual product.
